North Wales Women’s Hockey League

2nd Division

Saturday 14th November

Caernarfon (2) v Bangor (0)

Caernarfon were playing in the wind and rain again this week, playing local rivals Bangor. The Cofis had a strong team out and had possession for the majority of the game. The first goal came from a routine penalty corner, Lois Welsh crossed to the penalty spot and Esther Roberts smashed it into the bottom left hand corner of the net. Caernarfon had plenty of chances from penalty corners but none were going past the talented Bangor goalie. Eventually Gwen Wilkinson had the ball at the top of the D and hit it into the ‘D’, with the ball in the air, Heledd Evans and a Bangor defender got a touch and deflected it into the goal, however it was disallowed. It didn’t stop the home team though, and soon afterwards Ceri Welsh took the ball up the left wing, passed it to fellow forward Heledd Evans who controlled the ball in the air and passed it to Lois Welsh who scored from a one on one situation with the goalie. With it being 2-0 up at half time, Caernarfon Ladies pushed for another goal to secure the win, and despite the hosts dictating play, the ball didn’t seem to find it’s way into the back of the net.

Player of the Match – Heledd Evans

Caernarfon Ladies will be playing Welshpool at home in the quarter finals of the League Cup next week.

Push off 11:00.
