Porthmadog (1) v Caernarfon (2)

Caernarfon Ladies travelled to Porthmadog with only ten players in the wind and rain this weekend. But playing the third in the division with one player down didn’t stop the Cofis from displaying excellent team work. Caernarfon had many chances from penalty corners in the first half, but none were going past the Porthmadog defence and goalie.  The first goal came with midfielder Lois Welsh bringing the ball up to the ‘D’ and reverse sweeping it past the talented Porthmadog goalie. Welsh had another excellent chance with a one on one opportunity with the goalie, but luck wasn’t with her and the ball came off the post. Caernarfon goalie 14 year old Gwen Morris definitely kept Caernarfon in the game with some excellent saves through out the game. Captain Manon Lloyd Williams fast pace was too much for the keeper and made it 2-0 in the second half. Port brought the score up to 2-1 with a scramble in the Caernarfon defensive ‘D’. With another player down, Caernarfon were down to 9 players for the last 15 minutes of the match, but still battled right until the last whistle.

Ardudwy (1) v Caernarfon (1)

Saturday 25th October 2015

The two leaders of the second division battled this Saturday on Caernarfons home pitch at Llanrug. Caernarfon had a strong team out on Saturday in the pouring rain and started the game off strong, but just couldn’t get the ball into the net. With both teams working hard, and wanting the top spot, the first half ended with no goals. Caernarfons confidence was high going into the second half, after having plenty of opportunities there was bound to be a goal soon. With one defender down after being sent to the sin bin with a green card, Ardudwy took full advantage and got one up on the home team;  Caernarfon didn’t let this dampen them a kept on fighting, with only 10 minutes to go, Lois Welsh took the ball of the Ardudwy defender and came down the right wing, crossing it into the ‘D’ where Ceri Welsh was waiting to equal the score. Caernarfon kept battling until the very end, and with Ceri Welsh going into the ‘D’ with the ball, it was a 3 against 2 Aruduwy defenders situation, unfortunately the umpire decided to blow the final whistle. A very challenging game for the Caernarfon Ladies, but with a 1-1 score line the Cofis will have to put up the same battle after Christmas with the away game against Ardudwy.
